Morse Code

I always felt really lucky to be exposed to some great teachers while I was growing up and learning the language of music. In addition to finding great music that I loved I also was always motivated by people that had special qualities.

One of my first concerts was the Steve Morse Band when I was in high school shortly after I began playing the guitar. In addition to seeing mind blowing musicians who would serve as an inspiration as I continued on my journey I also learned a lot about how I would want to treat the people that would one day come to my own concerts.

I also became exposed to bluegrass which is a style of music I love now but might not have otherwise given a chance. As you know there is a bluegrass song on The First Chapter and when it came time to name the track all I could think back to was the influence that Steve Morse and David Larue (guitar and bassist for the Dixie Dregs and the Steve Morse Band) played in bringing that song to life. So I named it “Morse Code“.

They are both great role models and inspirations for me and I hope you enjoy Morse Code and also take some time to check out some of their sites as there is some music that I can guarantee you will enjoy. In particular worth checking out is the Dixie Dregs song “The Bash” which is about as good as I’ve heard in terms of bluegrass.
